Your college degree won’t teach you this
I'll bet you
Can you believe this friend???
I studied history in college.
Wrote about empires and revolutions.
Even dreamed about becoming a professor at one point.
But this is the truth:
No class ever taught me how to tell a story that sells.
No professor ever graded me on clarity, connection, or conversion.
The most important lessons I’ve learned as a storyteller?
Came while I was working as a journalist.
I was assigned to produce a radio documentary on gymnastics.
Jamaica had just qualified its first-ever gymnast for the Olympics.
Huge news.
I interviewed coaches, the president of the local gymnastics association.
But it still felt flat, like I was reporting at people, not for them.
Then I started listening.
Everywhere we went, little girls were watching.
Trying handstands in the background.
Asking if one day they could go to the Olympics too.
That’s when the story came alive.
It wasn’t just about the athlete.
It was about what her presence unlocked.
A new dream.
For an entire island.
That changed how I told stories forever.
If you’re a founder or creator building in public,
Here’s what college won’t teach you:
How to earn trust with a single sentence
How to pull someone in without sounding like everyone else
How to turn a life moment into a business moment
You don’t need a degree to tell a powerful story.
You need perspective.
And practice.

my storytelling guide will show you how.
