Why Most Creators Don’t Make Money
A few years ago, I sat down with a creator friend.
Hey friend!
A few years ago, I sat down with a creator friend.
She was doing everything right, posting daily, engaging, even launching a digital product.
But she wasn’t making money.
Not even close.
At first, I thought maybe her audience was too small. Maybe she wasn’t getting enough reach.
Nope.
She had thousands of followers. Plenty of engagement. A growing email list.
So what was the problem?
Turns out, she was stuck in content creation mode, pumping out valuable posts, but never making an actual offer.
And that’s where most creators go wrong.
The Harsh Truth
Most creators:
🚫 Post every day but never sell anything
🚫 Share content but never tell stories that convert
🚫 Assume engagement = income (it doesn’t)
Meanwhile, the creators making money?
✅ Use storytelling to position themselves as experts
✅ Talk about their offers regularly
✅ Treat content like a business, not just a hobby
And that’s the shift you need to make.
Storytelling isn’t just about engagement, it’s about connection.
It’s what makes people trust you, remember you, and ultimately buy from you.
If you’re serious about turning content into income, you need a clear offer, a simple sales process, and stories that sell.
Next week Friday, I’m launching Love, Learn, and Live Storytelling, a guide to creating impactful stories online (and using them to grow your business).

Let’s get you paid.

Stephen
