The fastest way to lose your voice online.

Comparison is killing your creativity.

In partnership with

friend!

I used to hate opening my phone in the morning.

Not because of the news,
but because of other people’s wins.

Another “10k month.”
Another viral post.
Another person “landing their dream client.”

And there I was, sitting in my corner of the internet,
wondering why my stuff wasn’t taking off.

I thought the gap was talent.
It wasn’t.
It was time.

Most of those people weren’t “lucky.”
They’d been doing the reps for years.
Writing bad posts.
Recording awkward videos.
Learning what worked, what didn’t, and doing it again.

But I only saw the result.
Never the work.

Comparison makes you forget that you’re in a completely different chapter.
You start copying their voice, their format, their story.
And the second you do that, you lose the only thing that makes you valuable your own perspective.

When I finally stopped watching other people’s growth and started studying my own,
everything changed.

Instead of asking “Why not me?”
I started asking “What can I learn from that?”

That small shift turned envy into data.
It made me sharper.
And it reminded me that consistency compounds faster than comparison ever will.

Here’s why it matters (and don’t roll your eyes):

Find Your Fire Again:
Creating was never meant to be a contest.
It was supposed to be fun.
When I dropped the scoreboard, I started sharing because I wanted to not because I had to.
And ironically, that’s when my content started connecting again.

Grow at Your Own Pace:
Track your own milestones.
Celebrate when you show up, not when you “go viral.”
Look at your analytics as feedback, not judgment.

Collaborate, Don’t Compete:
You’re not boxed out.
Reach out to that creator you admire.
Comment. Connect.
You’ll be surprised how many are open to real conversations.

Try this:
– Mute the noise.
– Define what “winning” means to you.
– Write down three things you’re proud of daily.
– Touch grass. Step away from the feed.

Run your own race.

The moment I stopped comparing, I started enjoying this again.
My voice got clearer. My ideas got better.
And funny enough, my reach grew.

If you’re caught in the comparison trap, remember this:
They’re not losing sleep over you.
And your voice is already enough.

Till tomorrow,
Stephen
