ChatGPT Hooks Suck... But

A few months ago, I did a little experiment.

I asked ChatGPT to write me five “high-converting” hooks.

Here’s what it spat out:

🚫 “You won’t believe what happened next…”
🚫 “This one mistake is ruining your business.”
🚫 “If you’re not doing this, you’re failing.”

Sound familiar?

Yeah, because everyone is using the same AI-generated hooks.

And that’s why they flop.

Here’s the real problem

Most AI-generated hooks fail because they:

🚫 Sound exactly like every other post online
🚫 Lack an emotional pull
🚫 Try too hard to be “clickbait”

Which means people scroll right past.

So here’s the twist

AI can help you write better hooks, if you know how to use it right.

The key? Never use AI’s first draft.

Instead, tweak it. Make it personal. Add curiosity.

Here’s an example:

AI-generated hook: “Most people overcomplicate storytelling. Here’s how to fix it.”
Better version: “I used to overcomplicate storytelling, until I learned this one trick.”

The second one feels real. Less robotic. More human.

More hooks that actually work:

"My biggest failure as a new copywriter (and what I learned)" – Hooks curiosity + promises a lesson.

"I spent $1,000 on bad ads. Here’s what actually works." – Adds specificity and stakes.

"Nobody cared about my content… until I changed this one thing." – Relatable struggle + teases the fix.

See the pattern?

The best hooks aren’t generic.
They make you feel something.
They pull you in like a great story.

Now, here’s a little gift:

🎁 Use this AI tool to generate hooks for your content.

Just remember, always tweak and test.

Cheers,

Stephen
