A kid gave me business advice.
I took it and you should too
Hey friend!
Every day, like clockwork, my four-year-old son comes at me with the same question.
“Daddy, why?”
Why is the sky blue?
Why do birds fly?
Why can’t I have ice cream for breakfast?
(That last one is up for debate.)
At first, I hit him with the basic responses. But after the 100th “Why?” I realized something.
This kid is onto something.
Because the best entrepreneurs? The best marketers? The best storytellers?
They ask better questions. Constantly.
And here’s where it hit me:
A few years ago, my business felt stuck. I was putting in the hours, creating content, making offers.
But nothing was really clicking.
Then I stopped assuming and started questioning.
Why do some brands explode while others get ignored?
Why do people buy from some businesses but not others?
Why was I playing it safe when standing out was the answer?
That shift changed everything.
I scrapped what wasn’t working. I leaned into what was. And suddenly, everything got easier.
Sales? Up.
Engagement? Higher than ever.
Opportunities? Pouring in.
And I didn’t work harder. I just asked better questions.
Most people never do.
They assume their audience “gets” their offer, when they don’t.
They assume their content is resonating, when it’s falling flat.
They assume people aren’t buying because of price, when the real problem is trust.
But the moment you stop assuming and start digging? That’s when things change.
So here’s my challenge for you:
Be more like a four-year-old.
Whatever you’re working on: your content, your brand, your business, stop and ask why until you get to the real answer.
The people who win aren’t the ones who follow the rules.
They’re the ones who question them.
