3 Story Systems Every Founder Needs
This is all you need
friend!
I believe 3 Story Systems are enough to build trust, grow your audience, and make consistent sales.
Because as founders and creators, we need 3 things:
We need to grab attention.
We need to earn trust.
We need to drive action.
And for each of these, we need 1 Story System.
Here are the 3 I use daily:
I call it The Story Seller Model.
Let’s break them down.
1. Hook Story
This is content that grabs attention.
I use two types:
Surface Hook → relatable stories that pull in a wide audience.
Example: “I wasted 5 years posting content no one read. Here’s what I wish I knew sooner.”
(Broad pain point, anyone creating online can relate.)Deep Hook → niche stories that filter for ideal buyers.
Example: “I helped a SaaS founder land 3 enterprise clients in 90 days by reshaping his founder story.”
(Niche outcome, only relevant to the right buyers.)
If you only want customers, use Deep Hooks.
But if you want both growth and sales, you need both.
When you share Hook Stories, you turn strangers into followers.
2. Trust Story
The next goal is turning those followers into believers.
That’s where Trust Stories come in.
They show your struggles, mistakes, and lessons.
They prove you understand what your audience is living through.
Example:
“When I got fired in 2022, I thought my story was a weakness. But sharing it built more trust and connection than any polished win ever did.”
When people see themselves in your story, they trust you.
And trust is the bridge to buying.
3. Conversion Story
The final step is moving from trust → action.
This is where Conversion Stories come in.
It’s not about pitching features.
Instead showing the before → after and tying your offer as the bridge.
Example:
“Before: I struggled to turn my story into content.
After: Now I post 4x/week and generate leads consistently.
Bridge: The shift was using my 3-part Story Seller Model.”
When you tell these stories, followers turn into paying clients.
In short:
We use Hook Stories to grab attention.
We use Trust Stories to build belief.
We use Conversion Stories to drive action.
That’s it.
I’m using these 3 Story Systems to grow my business and help clients do the same.
I’ll keep testing and refining.
And I’ll share what works inside these emails.
Curious, which of these 3 story types are you using most right now?
Talk soon,
Stephen
